This first book of the series, is also the first book I would be reading by this author, and thus was intrigued. The story centers around Parker Sinclair and Colin Hudson.Parker has had to deal with a lot in her young life, primarily taking care of her younger siblings , even if her dreams turned to dust When mudslides threaten all her hard work, she meets Colin.Colin is public works supervisor attracted to this complicated woman. As they work together we also get a chance to meet secondary characters that bring some interest to the story. It was a sweet and touching story More of a women s fiction book than a full fledge romance.Still, one you will enjoy the complex characters that will touch your hearts.I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley The opinions expressed are solely my own. 5 Star Review My Way To You Creek Canyon 1 by Catherine BybeeI was excited when I learnt that Catherine Bybee had a new series releasing and although this book is a bit of a departure from previous books I have read by her, as always the heroine of the story Parker Sinclair is a strong and resilient women Parker s life has not been easy, having to look after her younger siblings when her parents died, she never got to graduate college and has no real skills To say that their lives have been difficult is a massive understatement and when faced with the latest blow, a fire that almost destroyed their home and a mudslide that might, she is at her wits end Colin Hudson s job as a public works supervisor is to protect property from further damage His job is made harder by Parker who refuses to relinquish control Colin is attracted to Parker, a woman he knows has been through so much and yet is determined not to give in All he wants to do is help and protect her but it is hard going My Way To You is a heartfelt story that is emotional and at times gut wrenching It is also a sweet story about love and overcoming obstacles that life puts in your path and in doing so allowing oneself to open up to the possibility of finding love and happiness. This book was well written, with characters who have flaws and are not afraid to show them, this story will get to you in many ways I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. Catherine goes straight to the heart in this magnificent, compassionate, life affirming novel. An absorbing read from a masterful authorEpic Can t wait to seebooks to come Catherine Bybee s books usually concern strong heroines who face unusual life challenges, face them head on, and who usually find a love interest along the way Her newest book, My Way To You, is no exception to that formula.Parker Sinclair has faced a lot in her 25 years Her parents died leaving her the guardian for her younger sister and brother although she attended college, she never graduated and has no real marketable skills Managing to keep the three of them in the house they grew up in and raise two siblings when she was nothan a child herself was arduous But Parker s not the type to weep and fall apart in a crisis The newest issue in their lives is a fast moving destructive fire that comes dangerously close to their home And after the fire, before the land can renew itself, the floods and mud arrive It s a desperate attempt to keep mother nature at bay and the Sinclair home safe.Into this crisis comes Colin Hudson, a Public Works supervisor, charged with clearing the land and preparing for the flood His attraction to Parker is instant, and follows through the book to the end. This is the first Bybee book I ve read that wasn t part of a series, so the characters were all new and unknown I had no difficulty with the hero and heroine They are written well and have perfect arcs for a lifetime together in their HEA.The difficulty I had was the never ending descriptions of the weather, the damage it wrought, and the constant pages of description of keeping the damage at bay In the afterward of the book, Bybee describes her own experience with the tragic California fires in 2016 17, almost losing her own home to it, and then the subsequent flooding, so she hasthan enough research to base this book on, there is no doubt of that.In the end, this is another well written story, classified as general fiction and romance, although I felt the fiction element was thepervasive part of that description than the romance There was no real conflict between the hero and heroine, other than a throwaway line about future children. Thanks to Netgalley and Montlake for a sneak peek at one of my favorite authors new books The opinion is mine alone.3.5 4 stars. I beautifully written book by Catherine Bybee, what made this book even better was that the author had actually experiences things that happened in this story, and was willing to share that I have read other books by this author and have always enjoyed them, this one certainly didn t disappointA story of overcoming battles, by persevering no matter what is thrown at you.It s a while since I have read books in this genre, but it made a really nice change, it s uplifting and a joy to read. This author just has this knack of writing relatable, believable characters, which for me, it s something I enjoy, I want to feel like they are friends, this story gives you that feeling You are rooting for Parker. After her parents had died two years earlier 26 year old Parker Sinclair s life changed dramatically, she had to quit school and her future plans, to raise her younger sister Mallory and brother Austin, as well as taking on all the responsibilities of running the household. They live in California, but when a wildfire nearly destroyed their family home Parker begins to worry about, and obsesses over the threat of mudslides when the winter rain comes. After the wildfire Parker meets Colin Hudson who is a supervisor of the public works department He devises a plan that should help calm some of Parker s fears Only problem is Parker doesn t like relying on anyone for help But it s not long before the attraction and chemistry starts to flicker between the two But when the rains come and they are worse than they had expected Can Parker let Colin help her The main focus of the story is on the struggles that Parker s family face after the wildfires, and then the further disasters from the rain It s also accepting help when it s offered, and not being too proud to try and do it all alone Parker is a strong independent woman, she has had to be, she doesn t take any nonsense from anyone At times this is heart pounding, with the action, the struggles faced from the weather, but a beautifully written plot, very descriptive prose, looking forward to book 2I would like to thank netgalley and MontlakeRomance for an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest, fair and unbiased review. In Catherine Bybee s new series, book one has given us a powerful story of one woman who has to keep her life together in the face of many challenges that come her way Parker Sinclair has been living life that any one in their early s would be doing, until tragedy struck and she was charged with raising her two younger siblings, giving up her education and finding a job that was not really to her liking but she had to put food on the table and pay the bills She was doing okay until a new disaster struck and she tries to hold everything together She is not one for asking for help, but sometimes you have to bit the bullet and let some in, or someone s in Parker is very strong willed, but County worker Colin Hudson is a fixer, and he tries his best to help Parker with all the challenges she is facing at the hand of Mother Nature You can t fight Mother Nature without help, but Parker is doing her best not to reply on the people who love her Colin Hudson wants nothingthan to take the burdens from Parker Sinclair, but she fights him every step of the way As they both struggle with their own challenges, the Hudson family comes into help From Colin s mom Nora to the new renter Erin of the guesthouse that Parker needed to help out with expenses, to the crew who work for Colin As Parker struggles to be independent and not rely on others, especially Colin, all of these people who help, become special to Parker and Colin in particular She finds that he gives her strength and how much she needs him to be her rock and show her that she can still be in charge of her life, but with the help of people who love her, she finds that she can still be the strong person she is, but that help is always around her from the man that will keep her safe from fires and floods no matter what because while Mother Nature rages outside, she is busy making sure that the powerful feelings that Parker and Colin have will result in love and a future together Thank you Netgalley for giving me the chance to read and review this wonderful first book in this new series I could not put this book down and I know the fans of Catherine Bybee are going to love it I can t wait to for the next book Bring it on First, I enjoyed this Bybee read She is a talented author and that shines through here It was haunting devastating to learn, from a first hand account, how ravaging the wild fires we hear about on the news are for the people living through them I m an east coast girl, so hurricanes, not wild fires are what I ve seen and lived through That being said, IMO this is a bitwomen s fiction than it is romance I don t generally like women s fiction, I like a lotromance and sexy times in my for entertainment reading Also, I live a women s fiction sort of life everyday so why read about it I would recommend My Way to You to readers who enjoy women s fiction and or prefer a 90 10 story to romance ratio.I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book All thoughts and opinions are my own.
